...about the gas mileage? I go up to the mountains throughout the year. I need some pickup, safety, and room for cargo, however the gas prices are killing me. Right now I drive a 2002 Hyundai Santa Fe. I love it but my budget does not.
 
My husband bought a Kia Sportage a few years back and it was a complete lemon! The 4 wheel drive never worked correctly, so yes it sucked in the snow. Everytime the AC was turned on, there would be a waterwall in the front passenger side, and on top of that, it broke down completely on his birthday! We had it in the shop countless times, before everyone just gave up. We ended up working out a trade with the car dealership for a Mitsubishi Montero SUV - now that was a great car.
