Are there any good books are online quizzes that would be fun to take to help me to learn my strengths. How did you decide what career path you wanted to take?

I realized that the only way I'm going to get ahead in the world is to follow what interests me and what I can be passionate about, and not go on the whims of my family or complete strangers across the internet. Of course, now that I've told you this, you can't possibly achieve it, since I'm a complete stranger from the internet. Good luck with your lifelong paradox and, ultimately, complete and utter failure.

Colleges often have a testing center for that. Also on the website--CareerBuilder.com.

I recommend a Community/Junior College, you'll spend half the money just in case you change your major.

You can start by trying to decide on a category.
If you like math--Accounting, Engineering, Computers

If you like helping people--Social Work; Psychology; Teaching; Sales

If you like kids--Elementary Ed; Child Care

If you like Justice--Police work; Lawyer; Judge

Etc.

From there you can link your interests. For example--if you like kids and you want to help disadvantaged people, then maybe be a Child Psychiatrist who works in Social Work.

If you like Art and Computers, then Graphic design.

You can also look thru a College Course Catalog and see what interests you and decide on which major to pursue. You can decide on an exact career later.

Online quizzes can only take you so far. I'm going to college next year as an undeclared major. I get to try out a whole bunch of new things and meet with my guidance counselor once a week to figure out what I'd like to pursue in school/life. I think it's a good path to figure things out.
