I can't install any applications on my t-mobile pulse,can you help me?

Hello everyone.I've just bought a t-mobile pulse phone running on Android 1.5.I've searched on the internet for games and applications for my phone and found some files on http://www.androidfreeware.org/ which are in ".apk" format.When i try to open them on my phone it says that its unable to open.Can someone tell me what to do,which file format is supported by my phone or how to open and install them? Thanks and sorry for the bad English. :)

Why are you downloading things that way? There's an app on the phone called the Market. That's to access the Android apps market site. You can download any app right from that site, and it will automatically load and install for you. You don't need to download apps from anywhere else.
