brother-in-law's new car.? so i said sure! i drove it for about 30 min. and some idiot came into my lane and side swiped the vehicle. the police took a report and initially told the driver that came into my lane that he was responsible. HOWEVER! when the officer reviewed the cease further, the officer determined a week later that i was at fault. W.T.F.?! there where other discrepancies in the report, the officer determined that i failed to yield for oncoming traffic. thus making me the person who caused That accident. the driver said he saw me at the stop sign before entering the road way, he also added he tried to move to the left with negative results, because there was a nother vehicle on lane #1 or his left. ( there is not enough space to have three vehicles drive on that particular area since there is a cement median on the left side of the left lane).Unfortunately the report has been completed and cannot be changed, i must go before a judge and hire a lawyer to prove that the individual was at fault, NOT ME. i dont have money for a $2,800.00 lawyer or a $3,500.00 dollar repair. i live in Arizona, am i liable?

Report the claim to the insurance company that covers the car you were driving.

(insurance follows the car - not the driver).

The insurance adjuster will do their own investigation and determine liability. If they believe you are at fault - they will settle with the other guy. If they do not think you are at fault - they will deny the claim.

Insurance adjusters do not have to agree with the police officer. Most of the time we do --- but not always.
