The weapon i have created is a metal rod 2 feet long, like a baton. My character upon seeing it for the first time compares it half of a nun chuck. The metal has a blackish tint and is inscribed with various strange symbols. The weapon, once common among advanced reapers, has been enchanted allowing the reaper who possesses it to channel his death energy through it upon striking as well as upon a fatal blow to extract the soul of the victim through it and into the reapers body, thus empowering the reaper. The power of taking a soul is known as consuming in my novel. The "death energy" within reapers has yet to be named. The weapon has since been forbidden due to the dangerous nature of consuming a soul.
I've done research on staff names, like the Jo, Bo, Baton, Quarterstaff, Club, but can't find anything closer than the baton to describe the weapon and i don't want to call it something corny like a "death rod". I even tried googling the name of the handle on a flail (mace) and haven't found one, so that would be useful to. Any ideas would be awesome, I've been stuck for a week trying to make something up.
Anyone who has read/seen Goodkind's Sword of Truth/Legend of the Seeker there is a similar weapon in size, although different magically, called the agiel. I don't know where he came up with that name, since it has something to do with Saturn.
Anyways any help would be lovely. Thanks, something loosely based on something that exists would be nice but am open to just completely fictional creations.
