I don't really see what makes UFC better than wrestling

I know everyone is entitled to their opinions, but what makes UFC so much better than wrestling. I respect UFC. I really do, but I don't see how doing a submission hold a guy for 5 minutes, what UFC marks call, "hardcore". UFC is brutal. Yes, but I don't see it as "hardcore". I tried a few episodes of UFC. About 3 or 4. It didn't really excite me. Wrestling has bad things, but what makes it so good that UFC and MMA marks come in and bash wrestling. Any UFC fan please tell me because if UFC is really that good I'll be willing to try it again.
