I know this sounds corny but I like to check out books about different religions, spiritual relaxation techniques, motivational/self-help books, cookbooks, exercise books, and the likes. Having positive energy around me and maintaining balance in my life is very important, so I like to read up on different techniques to not only keep my body healthy, but my mind healthy too.

However, it's becoming a stress to go to the library. The librarians always make a fuss about what I'm reading.

I checked out a book on Buddhism once and I was told I was going to hell. I checked out a vegan cookbook (I am not strictly vegan because I think meat is essential for the body, but I still cook vegan dishes because they are usually very healthy) and they all laughed at me. And they all call me a hippie despite the fact that I usually go to the library as soon as I get off of work. (which is in an office so it's business-wear).

What do I do?

I would ignore them. Reading is your passion and you read to get new knowledge and throw stress. So don't be bothered by them. What you read won't change you, it just gives you new knowledge. So by the end of the day you'll know more than others know.
I'm a girl and I'm an airplane, expolsions, assasinations, rpg game and other weird stuff maniac. Many of my friends call me crazy or insane or weirdo or something like that, but when I am asked questions or when I throw random facts at people they are often surprised. Where do I get those is encyclopedias and Wikipedia.
If you enjoy doing something and you know that it is right or good for you, you don't need to stop doing so because of pressure from outside. I enjoy reading all sorts of things (even the occasional ad, and sometimes over and over again if there's nothing else to read) and I don't care what others think unless what I'm reading is wrong or bad for me.

You ignore them and what you are doing is not corny! What's wrong with reading about different religions and looking up different dishes. Gosh people these days. You should tell those librarians to mind their own business and that they are no better than you!

Mee too! but non only with the librarians but also with my family, because they criticize what i read (they are not very spiritual)
