I had a remote start installed in my car. Do they need to make a new key.?

Do they need to make a key to your ignition when installing a remote start? If so why. They already have a key to the car, why do they need a new one . How do you know they only made one? Someone had a key to my last car and ruined the car while driving at night.

no need for a key at all when you have remote start unless you just want to use it
