I had to reformat my hardrive and lost my internet connection. How do I get it back?

I had a wireless card installed in the computer when i bought it. Can't bring up any sign of it. I'm a computer novice so need it in layman's terms
 
Plug your modem into your computer with the usb port, and go to windows update. It will install the drivers you need.
 
Go to your manufacturers web site. Go to the driver's download section.
Search for your model number. Find it, and download the wireless drivers.
Install them. Reboot.
 
There should be a drivers CD which came along with the computer- just like the system restore CD. Install the driver software for the wireless card from that.
