experienceing Idol problems.? The car starts fine. I changed the spark plugs a year ago. Sometimes the car Idols high when it first starts, which accrued before the plugs where changed. Also it will misfire when operating. When reaching 3000 Rpm it gets jumpy. I have had the computer read and is says its misfiring in multiple cylinder. I want get the car back to its best operating conditions. So what would be my be route to fix the problems? It never stalls. I want to give this car a complete tune up. I am looking for some information on what parts should be changed. What normally is changed at this mileage marker?

I used this site to check out a CEL on my 01 Elantra one time and it was helpful.

Multiple Cylinder Misfire
Symptoms may include:
the engine may be harder to start
the engine may stumble / stumble, and/or hesitate
other symptoms may also be present

Causes:
Faulty spark plugs or wires
Faulty coil (pack)
Faulty oxygen sensor(s)
Faulty fuel injector(s)
Burned exhaust valve
Faulty catalytic converter(s)
Stuck/blocked EGR valve / passages
Faulty camshaft position sensor
Defective computer

If there are symptoms such as the engine is stumbling or hesitating, check all wiring and connectors that lead to the cylinders (i.e. spark plugs). Depending on how long the ignition components have been in the car, it may be a good idea to replace them as part of your regular maintenance schedule. I would suggest spark plugs, spark plug wires, distributor cap, and rotor (if applicable). Otherwise, check the coils (a.k.a. coil packs). In some cases, the catalytic converter has gone bad. If you smell rotten eggs in the exhaust, your cat converter needs to be replaced. I've also heard in other cases the problems were faulty fuel injectors.

At the 60,000 mile mark you should also change all the belts, most important the timing belt. If it snaps it could ruin the engine. Also change the transmission fluid and make sure it's Hyundai's own SP3. Other stuff can damage it.
Hope this helps.
