...75 mph the RPM is at 3000? I have a 2003 Ford ranger edge with no tow package and when I travel around 75 mph my rpm idles at 3000. Also my truck is getting only about 16-17 mpg. Is this because of the RPM problem or what? Aslo when I am traveling about 80 mph my truck feels like it is switching gears, as in the whole truck heavly shakes quickly, when I go above and below 80 mph. Can anyone help me with these problems, I need to know whats going on and what I could do to fix them. Thanks

I have an '01 Edge and had the same problems. First, change your transmission filter and fluid. Your transmission filter is plugged and starving your transmission. Your low mgp is caused by the O2 sensors starting to go out, change both of them and you should be getting 18 to 20mpg. BTW the term idle is only used when the vehicle is sitting and you are not giving it any gas. Idle should be around 800 in park.
