I have a 305 sbc out of a 78 camaro, what is the process for putting it in my truck?

I have a 78 model 305 from a camaro. It is a running motor and i bought it for 100 dollars. First, how much power can i get out of this motor respectively? Second, it is going in my 88 ford ranger in front of a 350 turbo tranny, what is the process for getting it running as far as connecting the throttle cable, and wiring it to my ignition?
