I have a 89 mazda rx7 and just want to know if the rotary engine is serviceable?

Mine still works great but in case it ever breaks I would like to know if it is rebuild-able if it breaks down. I understand if the engine hits the bucket its done but I saw some engines that have been rebuilt and refurbished on the market for sale. Anyways anyone with a rotary engine or a mechanic can tell me? I'm just curious so my only resort wont have to be swapping the engine.
