I have a Blackberry 9630 from Verizon that has a nationwide US plan.?

I would like to get a HTC Desire from Telus and use it both in Canada with Telus and in the US on the Verizon network. How would I go about doing this? It seems like I would need to do some unlocking but I don't know if I need to unlock both the Blackberry and the Desire or which SIM cards I would need to use. Any help would be appreciated.
