i have a future query and i need help?

okay so i want to join the army, im BRITISH , somehow i get americans saying you cant join till your 18 :S anyway, i want to join the army i don't know what as of yet, but if i cant get in i want to an apprenticeship, i have looked on a few webstites but most of them require atleast a C in math im not good at maths :S is this true or are they sometimes a bit more leniant depending?
