I have a limited data plan on my droid and have a ? about PDA NET APP?

I just upgraded my phone on at&t and no longer have an unlimited data plan. I am at 5 gb for the month already and my month isn't up until the 12th of the month. If I use PDA net to access the internet on my laptop (instead of the mobile hot spot) will that lessen the gb that I use....or will it still use the same gb's??
