You cannot use the phone. You have T-mobile this is a GSM network operator. The phone which your friend has given you is Verizon which is a CDMA network operator. You cannot use a GSM SIM card with a CDMA network locked mobile phone. Only GSM network locked mobile phones can be unlocked to use with any other GSM SIM card.
