If you are certain that your box is bot or part of a botnet best thing I can tell you is restore it from those backups that you made on first install.
If you do not or did not do that, reformat, re-install, clean, and change the name of the box.
Put a strong BIOS password on it, then do not install any of that security stuff that obviously does not work.
You could just block the port that the nemisis is using, but a strong BIOS password and a better Log In password would help.
You said firewalls . plural, well that could be the suspected intruder, one firewall is plenty, two firewalls will conflict.
Well Stacie, it sounds like you are totally compromised. First thing, get OFF the internet so that they cannot control your computer any longer.
This means, disconnecting your DSL or cable modem from the wall by pulling the connectors from the DSL or cable. That way, they are cut off.
I think you will find that your system is too compromised to try and restore it, but you could attempt to do that. However, apparently, your current security software is NO GOOD or you would not be compromised like this to begin with. Try restoring the computer to an earlier date when you know you were not compromised. Do this thru SAFE MODE by rebooting and holding down F8 on reboot and launching into Safe Mode. If you have Vista, use the Operating Sytem disk and launch into the CD and do a restore.
If you do not have a restore point available to you that will get rid of them, you are going to FIRST, back up your data and good stuff to CD's and or DVD's - consider that whatever you backup may also be INFECTED! or you may end up backing up BOT files, so be very careful what you back up - just your pictures, letters and stuff, but don't try doing a system backup.
Get a copy of the operating system if you do not have one, you will have to buy one. FULL VERSION. And do a CLEAN INSTALL, wiping the hard disks clean of the bot/hackers.
You need to use a quality antivirus and firewall and I would suggest you use what I do, it is a professional version of the NOD32 antivirus and firewall, an offshoot of a commercial quality software used by corporations. The consumer version, called ESET Smart Security is worth every penny and is BETTER THAN Symantec, McCafee, AVG or any of the others. It passes all the virus testing and certifications all the time (check it out on VirusBulletin).
You should purchase a copy of it, download it from the internet, $59.99 a year - it has the best antivirus and antimalware apps, an excellent full strength business class firewall. And its easy to use and understand.
As soon as you get your operating system up and running, first thing!
Set up your antivirus and firewall. You buy it on line, download it, and then burn a copy to CD along with the full KEY you get via email.
Then, plug into the internet and immeditely download all updates.
Go to Microsoft and download all update downloads.
You may have to get onto Driver Agent, download their scanner and let them scan your computer, pay the yearly $29.95 fee and download all your hardware drivers you need.
You are now restored.
To get your data off the saved DVD or CD's. make sure you let ESET NOD32 scan each and every file on the CD and do not attempt to copy anything to the hard disk until you do a full scan. If you find anything, mark the file to quarrentine and do not copy it to the hard disk.
You will now have to restore your other software.
I would VERY HIGHLY recommend that you change your email address to a new one and make sure that you set a password you have never EVER used before. YOu can consider your email compromised.
You had better check out your credit cards and make sure no one has stolen your Identity! Better check your recent credit card bills and if you think you have been compromised, you had better call those credit card companies and report potential identity theft. This is only important if you have done credit card transactions on the net and or done banking on line.
Now I am going to give you one further WARNING! Stay the living H@*LL off of sites using torrents, limewire or any of those other THEFT devices for stealing and sharing illegal music. Do not give out your personal information to anyone. Do not give anyone you do not trust, you email address. NEVER give out your passwords. Do not download free software unless you know it is virus free and malware free and run scans on it anyway even if you do.
Learn how to use your firewall and keep all your security software UP TO DATE. The hackers know your internet providers address and they will attempt to hack you again - so this time, don't let them back in!
well if you can get into the computer as well print something abusive on there computer to get them off say like "GET OFF MY INTERNET I WILL CALL THE COPS" (its illegal to use wireless internets without permission from the owner of the modem or network) thats what i did with mine(i had the same problem)
if you hire a it guy they will be able to put a passcode or passphrase on your network to not let them in without the password.
or you could always just change it so it isn't wireless.
but in the mean time after you have gone off the internet delete your browsing history and change some of the passwords of your email and other things.
