First things first, don't cheap out. Since you've paid good money for a 40 inch plasma, you want to have the highest quality sound and video. First things first, the Blu Ray player. This is a great choice, because Blu Ray has won the war against High Def. The cheapest Blue Ray player on the market right now is actually inside the Sony Playstation 3. Not only does this give you amazing quality Blu Ray picture, but it allows you to play the latest PS3 games. The surround sound is a little trickier, because there are so many options. Make sure that the company you choose is reputable (I would reccomend Bose or Harman Kordon Speakers), and that they all are equipped with Dolby Digital Surround Sound. Good Luck!
