Here are all the details I can remember about the book: It was the story about a girl who was waiting to be able to see the future with the adults of the community. She was so much older than the other children. They were called see-ers, I believe. but she never got the sight. She found out later that she could instead see into the past. This was from a series of books, other memories I have are characters from the series playing a set of flutes to go through realms of death, a character in a library making a pet of some sort.... and also a scene from one book where a paper plane is flying the protagonist to safety.
