I am seeking a female reader or writer's opinion on something. I am reading a book from Dean Koontz called "Servants of Twilight". In the story, a 37 year old woman kidnaps a 6 year old boy. She approaches him from behind and covers his mouth with her hand to keep him quiet from the neighbors.
I am a writer and I pay lots of attention to detail and happen to dissect everything. I find this quite unrealistic since women have small hands. The boy is 3'10 and weighs 57 lbs. His mouth and nose are 1 cm apart.
Do you think it is realistic that a your hand is big enough to cover a boys mouth with your hand to keep him quiet? How close to his nose might your hand come? Do you think the boy would be forced to smell your hand against his will if you kept him quiet?
Thanks so much for reading my question. Don't get me wrong. I love the story but I enjoy analyzing the writing of other authors, and I find this unreaslistic. I do, however, look forward to your opinion on this as a female and as a writer. Don't be afraid to provide too much detail. I love detailed writers. You can never bore me with too much illustration
