textbook says use the bell? According to the textbook the bell on the stethoscope is used to "hear lung or bowel sounds", while the diaphragm is for high pitched sounds like blood pressure or heart sounds. So am I wrong in thinking that the bell is the side of the stethoscope with the open end while the diaphragm is the side with the drumlike plastic covering?
