I want to budget travel in China for 3 weeks. Will 8000 RMB be enough?

I'm going to stay in hostels and eat local food. I want to hit a few different cities and will be travelling by train. My head says 8000 is more than enough but I need feedback from anyone has been recently.
 
depends on where you would be traveling, if you are going to stay in Shanghai or Beijing, and other places..8000 is definitely not enough. Transportation will probably cost you the most amount of money. You need at least 10,000 RMB.
