I want to paint my 1972 VW Beetle?

I want to paint my 1972 VW Beetle because it has a crappy paintjob. It's flaky all over the place and some spots don't even have paint. Small spots though.
I want to spray-paint it camoflauge, Any advice and procedures needed? Thanks
