...I tell the SDAs to take a hike? I'm just sick of all the hate in this church, and want to go to the original Christianity. Just not sure how to do it.

Call your nearest Catholic Church and ask to speak to a priest about taking RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults) classes. Just be prepared for the classic SDA response from your fellow SDA'ers when you leave. You know the one:

Fade to black. . .and then they attack. (Ouch, and you 'd better get used to it. That's what they do.)

You know if you wish to investigate other churches just do so. There is no need to create bad feelings or burn bridges, for I am sure that even if you can not see it, someone benefits from the small measure of the truth that all religions have. No need to have a hissy, just go elsewhere.

I do not know about leaving SDA - although if they check on why you aren't attending or something, a letter to the local church should suffice. Catholics don't check. as for becoming Catholic (or any other religion) start by attending services and making sure it is what you want. try multiple faiths and churches within that faith. when you find the one that feels like home, check the bulletin or talk to the pastor about joing and what is necessary.
