his own call? I know I've seen umpires huddle to talk about a call in question and sometimes end up making the right decision by overturning a blown call. What does the rule book say when a manager challenges an umpire's ruling on the field? If the manager makes a strong case, can the (first base) umpire change the call at that very moment? If so... would Jim Leyland's conversation with Jim Joyce be something like this?
Leyland: "Jimmy I've known you a long time. You've been a great umpire in this League for so many years. I want you to make it out of this ballpark alive. I'm going to give you a second to think about this one and talk it over with your guys. Make the right call"
