If a "rumor" was going on about you but is actually true would you deny it?

So i had what you call a one night stand with a friend. we were buzzed i was heart broken about my ex and the story goes on. i ended up regretting what happened and i tried to clear the waters with this guy that IT happened with but he was avoiding it so i was like whatever... now it turns out that he told people so i just don't know what to do. and it really hurts because i loved him as a friend and trusted him. and according to him "he has so much respect for me" obviously bullshit but now i'm stuck in this situation and i don't know what to do. his friends look at me in this way that makes me feel uncomfortable but i don't talk to him anymore so it's so frustrating because i tried to talk to him in the past and he wouldn't come through. my friends want to f@ck him up but i don't know. ughhh help me!
