Im young woman in my early 20s. I have frequent UTIs since I was about 17. Last year I had a UTI and was prescribed Bactrim for 1 week from my Dr. I still had symptoms when the week was over and called my Dr back. They said my urine culture was resistant to Bactrim and gave me something different and referred me to a urologist. I have take Nitrofuritonin as well as Cipro and both have worked effectively. I hadnt had a UTI for over a year and just got one again. I called and asked for an antibiotic presciption over the phone because it costs me about $300 for a urine culture (even tho i have insurance). The same Dr who prescribed Bactrim last time and found it to be resistant, prescribed me Bactrim again for this present UTI. If it was resistant a year ago, is that specific to that case, or would I be resistant now as well? I am confused why she would prescribe this when I reminded the nurse of this over the phone. I am on my second day of treatment and still no relief of symptoms.....
