If I buy a car for NFS Carbon on XBL am I just paying to unlock it or do I get it...

...in my garage? Just curios because for some reason I've hit a road block in the game play and I can't advance any further mostly because I don't have any cash in the game and my upgraded car still sucks. So if I get a better car by purchasing it on the XBL marketplace will it be in my safe house ready to use or am I just paying to unlock it and I still have to muster up the money to purchase it at a car lot in the game?
