it? Recently Rogers had announced that they were launching the Iphone in Canada this year. My question is if I go to the US and purchase an iphone from the apple store and bring it over to Canada, would I be able to use it on the Rogers GSM network? I would wait until Rogers has set up the iphone on their network and then purchase from US. From my understanding the iphone in the US is locked to AT&T (which is the same as Rogers?)

Just looking for a way to avoid Rogers to-be defined data packages fro the iphone once it rolls out……

No, because the iPhone in the United States uses an AT&T SIM Card. And you cannot use your Rogers SIM card (unless you have a Rogers iPhone SIM card...yes, iPhones can't use other SIM cards even if it's the same carrier...though you can use the iPhone SIM card in another phone).

If AT&T and Rogers were the same, then we wouldn't be charged for roaming fees in Canada...unfortunately, we are.

You're trying to avoid the data packages? Here they have them too. The only way for you to avoid them would be if you asked Rogers to take it off after you got it....anything else would require unlocking (which then I ask why even wait for rogers to come out?)
