...discounts still apply? For example, once we have changed the existing plan into a family plan, I want to know if I will be able to get a Droid at the discounted rate? I guess the difference would be if changing a already existing plan makes it different than starting a new plan from scratch.
 
Phone upgrades are not calculated by what plan you have, but by the contract dates for each line.. If you are eligible to upgrade now, that line will always be eligible to upgrade until you decide to use it
