...top get damaged? I have only owned my Wrangler for a short time and have not yet had the joy of riding without it (the top that is). A friend said I should remove it completely if I want to ride without the top, otherwise the wind might cause damage to it if were to just "roll" it back and leave it in place. Two things make me doubt he's right about this, 1) He does not own one himself nor know anyone who does other than me and a friend who has a hard top. 2) It would be counter intuitive for JEEP to encourage owners to leaving the top on if they provide with straps along with the vehicle to keep the top from flapping in the wind. I COULD see how he could be right though, but I would like the input of veteran owners.

The whole point of the straps is so if you have the top down and it starts to rain, you can pull over and put the top up quickly. As long as the fabric doesn't flap in the wind, you shouldn't have a problem. Eventually the top will wear out, but that will happen whether you ever roll it down or not just from the exposure to the sun.

Have fun and ignore your friend. Tell him it's your car.

And if you want the best advice, call your Jeep dealer.
