'payload' be...? ...delivered?
Curious to know how nano technology is likely to 'evolve'. And how folks with a more scientific bent, would imagine the technology being used (and abused) by governments and private companies and terrorists.

I'm a writer, so this is research, and any help would be greatly appreciated!

...not saying this is not am important topic, but nano technologiy has been surpassed by newer, smaller forms, to the point of being able to control and almsot program down near the atomic level. This is a scary thing, but overall the term "Nanotechnology" is still common place for any of these tiny techs.

Well, as scientific thinkers and creators, we can think of the things, and for the most part, develop them for good, but it is the political minds that are generally far more malicious with these creations and discoveries.

The payload could be delivered by air and breathed in by the unwitting publics or rival enemies, almost on par with a chemical weapon, but not the same. Once they are in your body, they will do whatever they are taught or programmed to do so the possbilities are near endless on that front.

Do I fear these things? No, but I am a trusting person...this leads to things backfiring in my face sometimes, but not all the time.

Maybe soon those nano techs will be more and more intigrated with AI and we will soon create something on par with a virus, or the common theoretical term is a nanite. These could be taught to do our bidding, but then they could evolve on their own and go as far as destroy us all in the end.

Do not worry, I do not actually believe this will happen, but it is a possibility. These nanites could get into our bodies and wreak havok all day if they wished or were instructed to.

On the lighter side, these nanotechs could also get into our bodies and repair us, work with us, and even make us better and stronger on the cellular level. There are good possibilities as well as the scary ones. Who knows...

We saw with the atomic bomb how government could use advances in science to whatever horrible end they wish...the technology is not evil or wrong, it is never really wrong to discover and learn, but when technologies are released to society, that is where we screw it up and turn it into a destructive force.

I guess all I am trying to say in the end is that with this technology, there is no limit to what they could imagine, also there is no real limit to payload delivery. With something that small and practically untracable to 99.9 percent of people, a good chunk could be dead before we knew anything was wrong.
