might democracy among the Chinese have developed a whole lot sooner?
It took the Nationalist Chinese 40 years to do so in Taiwan, but they had to conquer the Taiwanese first, and THEN revise their system. That situation likely slowed things down a bit.
If left alone by Mao, yet tacitly supported by the West, might the KMT have been able to develop democracy in China as early as 1960?
The Mainlanders are still waiting. Will they have to wait until ALL of the Arab countries revise their systems before the CCP wises up?
