If you write a book do you have to go on a book tour?

im curious does every author need to do meet and greets or can they get out of it. im not asking about how successful the book will be just a direct answer to the question if you know anything about this. thanks

If it is in your publishing contract then yes. You are obligated to promote the book.
After all, you want people to buy it and read it, don't you?

No, that's only if the book does good on a big scale. If your book is something that's not really "noticed" in the industry, you won't even have to do local book signings.
Let's hope your work will do great!
