iHome and iTouch Problem?

this morning i wanted to play my music on my ihome and it connected and started charging, but then when i tried to play a song by hitting the play button it wouldn't work. The volume thing you usually have when you have headphones in was still there, and would only play out of my itouch. i tried restarting the itouch, and unplugging the ihome but it still wont play. how can i fix it?
