Im doing a exhaust on my car and need to cut the catalytic converter out?

I know its illegal so i do not want to hear people tell me it is all i want to know is, can i do damage to my car if i run it with no cats? Im putting longtube headers - no cats - 2 flowmaster 40's. I have a 1997 GMC Yukon GT, it has the 5.7L Vortec 350.....Besides the check engine light coming on and not passing inspection, can i do any damage running it with no cats? Anyway to fix it?
 
Your computer is going to get confused.

Todays computer controlled fuel injection is nothing like the good old days.
