I lost my job during the last financial meltdown in UAE, had a good job with a good salary but sometimes events reshape your future. I am an honest person at core who understands and realizes his obligations, commitments and responsibilities.
To cut it short, after moving jobs and during the second month at new job, I was told that the company is in crisis and can not afford me any longer. I was given a termination letter explaining that due to financial difficulties they have to let me go. My whole world turned upside down. I am a highly educated and experienced individual but I did not see it coming.
Since I was residing in UAE and had a luxury lifestyle due to my higher earnings, I indulged myself into all kinds of luxuries including an expensive car, nice house etc by utilizing my income and higher limit credit cards. I did not realize it at the time since in my mind I was a good customer with a decent credit history with the banks.
As soon as I was made redundant, in a panic attack, I stopped all of my payments since the company did not pay me any extra compensation when they made me redundant. As a matter of fact, they even stopped my last month salary due to clearance issues and paid later my last month's salary in two months after two months’ time.
I informed some of the credit card companies and applied for insurance shield, which at the time I thought could help me a bit but was told that it got rejected because I was not working with this new company for past three months.
To cut it short, after wards, I experienced the toughest time of my life for 10 months without a job during which I left UAE and went back to my native country. I was offered a job in my country and I started it and since first month of my job I started paying back to lenders but in amounts which I could afford. Since then, I have closed and settled one credit card completely and paying two with regular, however small, comparative to their outstanding balances for last one year.
There are two credit cards, which I haven’t touched so far and I’m sure they have put my name under immigration ban since I did not pay them anything for last 1 and a half years. I did not contact them since I knew that they gonna press me for payments which I cant spare due to my limited earnings from this new job and my existing payment schedules.
I need a way out! I can’t do that for the rest of my life, paying amounts every month but deferring the inevitable to future every single day. I thought of visiting other GCC countries as I can get a job there hopefully but I am not sure if the UAE immigration ban is valid for other GCC countries as well. I do not want to get caught at Saudi or Qatar due to my pathetic situation with UAE based lenders.
I am not running away from my liabilities, I just want a way out of this mess. I realize that this is a result of my own deeds and I am being punished for that. I have long feared that my sins will visit me in the most horrible manner and I think this is what they are.
All I need is a max of two years’ time with a decent job in GCC based on my skills and experience and I am sure that I will wipe my slate clean without any financial bailout from anyone. I can’t enter UAE, where my main market is. Now I fear that I can’t enter any other GCC country as well.
I would appreciate if anyone could help me with accurate information since it’s my life which is at stake here. I was told that the Dubai Dewan can grant exclusive decisions that can literally get you out of trouble.
I am already drowned so your sarcastic comments wouldn’t make a difference except to put me under more stress, so it’s your call. At the end, it’s our deeds and wits that make us men.
