My husband and I are going on a beach trip with his side of the family. Unfortunately due to the oil spill my husband and I no longer want to go because there WILL be oil on the sands and in the water. His family is getting upset because they all still want to go because the rental unit has a pool and they claim there are plenty of other activities to do.

We CAN cancel this reservation with a minimal fee...if WE back out then no one can go. I don't think its right to ask us to pay almost $600 to drive 6 hours away to a stinky location with closed beaches and spend MORE money to entertain ourselves.

Are we really obligated to go even with this unfortunate change in events?
Thanks!
