The usual is 5 days to see if the owner comes for the dog if the dog was picked up running lose.If the dog is an owner turn it, depends on how adoptable - they cannot adopt out dogs that are deemed "biters", so they can be destroyed right off.   Some shelters will not adopt out pit breeds of any kind.Same situation all over the country - horrible.</blockquote>
