Honestly, low IQ female characters do not bug me in general, but a low IQ character as the star of the plot that is suppose to "save the day" or "find the meaning to life" or just "get married to that awesome rich dude in school." Well it drives me nuts!
Honestly, I like my female characters' to have brains, and, though it's not required, a bad-ass side.
Like Integra, from the anime Hellsing. She is the perfect example of what I seek in a hero of the female flavor.
The anime I've seen to this particular tune is:
Hellsing OVA
Hellsing
Hana yori Dango
Peach girl
Ouran high-school host club
Nana- Yea I'm aware of the fact only one Nana made the series worth watching.
Ergo Proxy- My god Rei-L is such a bitch, but thats why I love her.
Claymore
Witchblade- this one made me slightly uncomfortable, honestly its boarder-line porn, but over all I found the story quiet satisfactory.
Escaflowne
12 kingdoms- really liked the character development here
The things I'm not looking for are as followed:
Inuyasha- I loved this anime, but kagome isn't the sort of lead I'm after.
Marmalade boy- Meh
Sailor moon- No, just no.
lovely complex- It was a good, but again not my type of female lead.
Kamichu- Oh I loved this anime; however, I'm not looking for female leads that are young children.
Okay with those examples out there, please feel free to offer up any recommendations
