there is a tool martial artists use to practice blocking and punching, it's a large wooden post with various poles sticking out of it what is this tool called? im looking for one please help

That is called a Mook Yan Jong (or Wooden Dummy Man) and it is for Wing Chun Kung Fu, although many other martial arts forms have adopted it with mis understood purpose.

The Wooden Dummy is actually for working on recovery from bad position, centerline awareness training and technique from all 3 empty hand Wing Chun forms.

Many people think that the Wooden Dummy is for hardening the arms and this is incorrect although it is a by-product of training.

You can use the Wooden Dummy for any training you like, and www.everythingwingchun.com is a great website to find one.
