In terms energy costs in the near future (5-10 yrs) does it make any difference...

...who wins the White House? Both McCain and Obama have their energy strategies. Both strategies have great strengths. Both have flaws. But won't it be the American people and many other elected representatives who will be making the decisions about how to decrease the price of gasoline, create cheaper ways to heat our homes and power things, and to reduce damage to the environment?

Some people seem to think that the future of energy in the USA depends on who the next President is.

I don't think it will matter.

I disagree; I believe it will matter. How we handle our energy problems will be determined by the policies enacted by the federal government, and the president will have a very strong hand in setting policy. We may not see much effect over the next 4 years, but what we do now will have an effect on how our situation looks 4 years from now.
