In the iPhone game Falling Sands, how do you turn off the flow of elements in

the beginning? I bought falling sands for my ipod touch itouch, and it is pretty cool except for the sounds and how slow it is... how do you make it faster and/or stop the constant flow to stuff? also what do the zombie and catapillar do?
