In this age of 'Instant Information', do cults have a harder time recruiting?

Take Yahoo Answers for example.
If I knew nothing about Mo Berg's children of God cult, I could ask here, and probably get a couple of sane, intelligent replies within a few minutes.

Back in the 70's, when I joined a cult, they had a saying.... "Milk before meat"
that meant that, as a new convert you would only learn easily believable stuff (the milk)
you would not be exposed to the deeper less believable stuff (the meat) until they were sure you could handle it.
back then, there was no 'internet' to check.... the nearest equivalent was the local library... and that was dependant on them having the right books to check.

So... do you think it's easier to avoid cults since the rise of the internet
