Long story short, I tried to install a Sony stereo (CDXGT510) in my 2004 Kia Optima using the stereo manual I got from Google, and the factory stereo manual that came with the car. When I thought I was finished with wiring everything together, I realized that, while the car has a negative illumination wire, the stereo doesn't. Fully knowing it might be a bad idea, I just twisted the negative illumination wire from the car onto the ground wire. Now, my stereo doesn't work, my clock doesn't work, and my car has no power when the key isn't turned (meaning no power locks or power windows unless the key is turned).
Another important note is that I KNOW that the manual that came with the car is incorrect, because at least one of the wires doesn't match the diagram. It's entirely possible that more than that is mixed around, which could be the cause for my lack of power.
So my question is, where should I put that negative illumination wire, and what are the correct harness positions for my stereo wires?
tl;dr: Where do I put a negative illumination wire coming from my car if the aftermarket stereo I'm installing doesn't have a negative illumination wire?
