the due date for thesis is coming up day after tomorrow and I need to be set in stone on what I want to do! the only restrictions is it has to be American history, and from 1870 to today. It also has to be 10-13 pages. I was thinking of doing the great depression comparing city to country life? I wanted to do the depression because my grandmother went through it so I thought it could be interesting, but then I'm looking around and I see some that I could probably enjoy more. I need some help deciding!!

I think that's a very good topic--but I would suggest narrowing it down a bit more, since country life in rural New York was very different than country life in, say, Nebraska. For rural areas, you could focus on wherever your grandmother lived. You could also look at California, which is where arguably one of the most famous photos from the Great Depression was taken (http://history1900s.about.com/library/photos/blygd45.htm.)
On the same note about the Great Depression--which is a really interesting topic--you could compare men's lives in the city (or country) versus women's lives in the city (or country.) Your Grandma could talk to you a bit about that.
