Interesting research paper topics?

I need to write a research paper for my english class but i have no idea about what to write about. We need the teachers approval but please make a list of topics so i can then narrow down my choices. This kid asked the teacher about
The negative effects of smoking but our teacher said not to do that because everyone knows smoking is bad. So please no topics that are so original that everyone knows
 
do your own course work. this is supposed to be from you, not us. am i going to get credit of you use my suggestion? doubt it.
