Internet accesories... need help?

I have family in El Salvador. They have a laptop and they are able to connect with me via online. However, there is no system like we have here.
They have to connect to the internet using a modem. Does anyone know which kind is it? The price is about 150.

What site do you use to connect?

What type of connection do they have dialup or cable?

What is their internet service provider?
