Hi, we have major problems with our wireles internet and often have up to 4 long wires running through the house as we cannot seem to fix the problem. It happened with our old provider too and now we have I new internet provider it still does not work properly and the router has changed along with a couple of PC's, so could it be interference of some kind, and nothing to do with the PC's or router?

Sometimes it will connect to the internet wirlessely then go off after 30 minutes maybe, then other times it will not work at all, yet there is always a good wireless signal to the router. Please if anybody knows, please tell us! Thanks
Thanks for the answers so far, the router is right next to a cordless phone but I did unplug this once but it did not fix the problem. We have talked to the technical support at tiscali loads of times and they usually get us to set up static ip address for each pc. The problem seems to be all the time no matter how many pc's are on... we have a Siemens gigaset router and most of us use Xp...

Wireless connections often have problems like this. I'll do my best to help you out but please could you add an update telling me who you ISP is, the name of the router you have and what operating system you have. :-)
In the meantime you may be able to solve it yourslef by looking here at some of the most common wireless faults: http://www.thetechzone.com/?m=show&id=242

i connected my daughters laptop to my pc after buying new router ,had same problem, she had vista with windows 1 live care, anyway after many attemps ,got it working ,turned out to be windows 1 live care had to ok the connection.

try buying a signal booster. maybe the way your house is set-up you can't have the standard signal.

It might be to do with your wiring set up. you need to make sure that you are not using cheap extn's and doublers, also def check your filters.

A critical piece of info you could have provided is whether it affects all your computers at once or whether some work and some don't. In any case, Let's just try a couple of easy things first. Go into your router's setup page and verify your client lease time is set to maximum. Can;t remember the default on my Linksys, but it is now set to 10000 minutes and I have no problems.

Next,

1. Close down all your running programs
2. Go into Control Panel>Internet Options>Delete Temporary Internet Files
3. Power down your computer
4. Power down your modem and your router
5. Wait 1 minute
6. Power up your modem and wait for 1 minute for the lights to stabilize
7. Power up your router and wait for 1 minute for the lights to stabilize
8. Boot up your computer

Hopefully, this will clear it up. If not, then hopefully you have ISP-supported wireless and can call the technical support.

Good Luck

Some cordless telephones can cause interference, but that usually only happens if the phones are in close proximity to the router... Unplug your cordless phones for awhile and see if the problem goes away...

Having the same problem on multiple PC's, even after switching routers is very suspicious.
